To highlight the importance of Yoga and the pivotal role it plays in rejuvenating our mind and the body, leading to a healthier lifestyle, every year Yoga Day is celebrated on 21 June. The theme for International Yoga Day 2021 is 'Yoga for well-being'. The numerous benefits of Yoga make it a popular practice for people across the globe, especially in times of a pandemic when mental and physical health is under stress. Keeping up with the same spirit our school organised virtual yoga sessions for all staff members, students and parents from 7 June to 18 June in a run up to the 7th International Yoga Day.
The event on 21 June began with a warm welcome note by the school Principal, Ms Sheena Yadav wherein she remarked that yoga not only provides physical and mental relaxation but also develops strength and resilience. Furthermore, she encouraged everyone to practice yoga for a healthier future. Under the able guidance of Mr Satish & Ms Savita warm up exercises were performed. It was followed by practising some asanas like Tadasana, Urdhva Hastasana, Uttanasana, Urdhva Mukha Svanasana, Bhujangasana, Chaturanga Dandasana. They also explained various 'Pranayama' techniques along with the benefits provided by them. Practicing asanas and pranayama regulates the purification of the internal system of the organs. The energy generated in the body through these physical exercises is then channelled into meditation for peace, stability and tranquillity. The session was revitalizing and filled everybody with positive energy.
A short quiz related to yoga was also organised for the students at all levels in order to educate them about our roots and cultural heritage.
