‘Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country – JF Kennedy’
On 15th August 2016, Gyan Devi Middle School organised a flag hoisting ceremony in the school premises to celebrate the 70th Independence day of India. The festival of freedom was celebrated with full patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. The event reaffirmed our true sense of freedom, peace and unity in diversity. The programme commenced with unfurling of the national flag by our honourable chief guest, Mr. Rajdeep Sahrawat, which was followed by rendition of our National Anthem by all. The school band played some wonderful music showcasing spirit of freedom, unity and progress. Honourable Chairman Sir highly appreciated the spirit of children and teachers and as always supported and encouraged to continue such endeavours. The cultural programme commenced with a welcome address by School Principal, Mrs Sheena Yadav, and was taken forward by the students of class VIII. Students gave an overview of our freedom movement and highlighted achievements and progress of India as an independent nation, sang a patriotic song –Dharti ki Shaan, presented a street play which showcased the bravery of our freedom fighters like Jhansi ki Rani and Bhagat Singh and danced gracefully on our national song Vande Matram. The Chief Guest urged the students to do small things which can make a big difference to our country like keeping India clean, following traffic rules and be the change we want to see in our country rather than expecting someone to bring that change. The programme ended with rendition of the school song.
