Curriculum for Classes VI to VIII

Scholastic Domain: English, Hindi, Maths, Science, Social Science and Sanskrit (third language)

Co-Scholastic Domain:  Music, Dance, Physical Education, Art and Craft, Computers and Life Skills

 

Scheme of Assessment

Assessment is done as per the CBSE guidelines. Both scholastic and co – scholastic areas are assessed.

For assessment of scholastic areas, there are four Formative Assessments with 10% weightage each and two Summative Assessments with 30% weightage each.

Term I – FA 1(10%) + FA 2 (10%) + SA 1 (30%) = 50%

Term II – FA 3 (10%) + FA 4 (10%) + SA 2 (30%) = 50%

Grades are given according to the 9 point grading scale given by the CBSE.

 

Scholastic Domain

Each assessment is indicated in grades.

Students will be awarded grades on a 9 point scale as per the following scheme:

Note: All assessment with regard to the academic status of the students shall be done in marks and the assessment will be given in grades.

 

Co-scholastic Domain

This domain consists of Part 2 and Part 3 of the assessment, which are as follows:

Part 2(A): Life Skills

It consists of:

Self Awareness
Problem Solving
Decision Making
Critical Thinking
Creative Thinking
Effective Communication
Empathy
Managing Emotions
Dealing with Stress- Interpersonal Relationships
Life Skills has been incorporated into the curriculum and regular assessment is done during the sessions.

 

Part 2(B): Work Education

In this domain students learn how to prepare gift items and other utility items out of waste material. They also make various items as craft work and are assessed accordingly.

 

Part 2(C): VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS

This covers activities related to Art, Dance and Music.

 

Part 2(D): Attitudes & Values

Attitude of students towards Teachers, Schoolmates, School Programmes and Environment are assessed on a regular basis and Anecdotal Records are kept by the concerned teachers.

 

PART 3: CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Part 3 consists of Co-curricular Activities which are as follows:

 

Part 3(A)

1.  Information & Communication Technology

2.  Literary and Creative Skills-Literary Club

Students are assessed on their level of participation and achievement in the above mentioned activities.

 

Part 3(B) Health and Physical education

1. Sports / Indigenous Sports

2. Yoga

Students are assessed on these two activities. The objective is to benefit from Physical activities to maximize health benefits.

The above mentioned Co-scholastic Domains (PART 2 and PART 3) are assessed on a five point grading system which is as follows:
